Casa Corazon: Capturing More than Our Taste Buds

1436167121805-1211485559

We were invited to the soft re-opening of Casa Corazon Restaurant in Talimpao, Punta Verde. I’ve never heard of this place until now. My aunt told me that this used to be the top restaurant in the province, pero for whatever reason, naging biglang under the radar na ang resto na ito.

It was a good day for fun and food and we were excited to participate in the event.

Even before we food bloggers tasted the mouth-watering dishes, they looked yummy and well presented. The plating was good, the dishes make a colorful ensemble and everything looked immcaulately clean.

THE TASTE. Once we got a taste of Casa Corazon’s  goodness though, we were in food bloggers heaven. The taste of every dish surpasses how it looked on plate.

Although I would recommend every dish at Casa Corazon, there are three dishes that have captured more than my taste buds, they have captured my heart.

GINATAANG DILIS SA PALAYOK. VEGGIE RICE. MALA-BINALAYOK.

THE BOMBER. The Casa Corazon specialties that have earned the oohs and ahhs of most of the bloggers are the following: Ginataang Dilis sa Palayok, Veggie Rice and Mala-Binalayok and they are surprisingly all categorized under Yna’s Specials.

A. GINATAANG DILIS SA PALAYOK11659498_687587518039403_357624060524508986_n

The coconut milk isn’t too think and overpowering. The ingredients dilis, pechay etc. that would otherwise create a soggy mess are not overcooked. The dahong ng mangga also put a refreshing tanginess to the whole dish.

B.  VEGGIE RICE10404297_687587464706075_7488392943147571107_n

Instead of the more popular oriental Chopsuey Rice, this is a yummy Pinoy take on Veggie Rice. The daing gives that yummy and natural saltiness. The basil gives an interesting oomph to combination of talong, okra and kalabasa. And the pandan gives that a wonderful whiff to the whole dish and makes sure you can eat the rice even on its own.

C. MALA-BINALAYOK 11698610_687587414706080_954830067520235655_n

Every morsel of this wonderful chicken dish is soaked with the taste of lemongrass and yellow ginger. Peppermint and basil make sure no one will get “umay” and also give an interesting blend to to the whole dish.

YOUNG KITCHEN GENIUS IN THE MAKING. We got to meet Yna, she’s apparently a kitchen aid at Casa Corazon but is alreadt showing her brilliance in the kitchen. She is, yes you guessed it, the one who created my faves under Yna’s special.

THE DEPTHS OF FRIENDSHIP

“FRIENDS” they’re the people you chose to be with. Could be your partners-in-life. And they reflect your personalities.

“Out of the word friends we can form words.” One is SEND – (transitive verb which means “to cause to go; to cause to happen”. We learn from our friends, “to treasure” is one in particular. We learn from them how to treasure a significant relationship. We learn from them some unfamiliar demeanor that we don’t have. We acquire cherishable and unwanted moments from them causing us to go or causing us to let it happen.

FIND is another word. Aside from your family, you’re still finding for something that’s missing. Yes, you need a friend. To have someone to reach out in times of failures. To have someone to laugh with. To express happiness and/or sadness.

Some have misunderstood friendship and some exerts extra efforts to keep the foundation strong. Some friends serve them as their ladder to survive a day or so and some of them have stepped on their friends just to outshine all throughout the day.

hahahahaha

REND“to become torn or split”. No matter how we try to restore all the damages done, sometimes the word sorry isn’t just enough. But we still look back on those fugacious bliss that we have had with our friends for it’s always the soft spot in us that kills the fire we started. And that’s where forgiveness syncs in.

“FRIENDS ARE YOUR BIOLOGICAL BROTHERS AND SISTERS; A WELL-KEPT LOVER. A STRANGER MOLDED INTO A REAL PERSON AS SHE/HE IS MEANT TO BE. WE CAN’T STEAL THEIR SELVES FROM THEM BUT WE CAN TOUCH THEIR SOULS. FRIENDS ARE INTENDED TO BE KEPT. ALWAYS TRY TO LOOK BACK TO WHERE YOU HAVE STARTED AND TAKE THEM WITH YOU WHILE YOU’RE ON YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS, FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE THEY SPICED YOU UP.”

Sad but true, friendship sometimes comes to an END. That’s when you feel awkward talking to each other after gaps and lapse as time goes by. It’s undeniably true that there’s always a friend that knocks on your door when they just need something/anything from you and forcibly shuts the door and simply walk away after they’ve gotten what they want. I don’t understand why the world has good and bad sides?

WHITE HAIRS

Is the life you live worthy for existence? Have you gone to places you’ve never been before? Did you get the chance to knock on someone’s door and tell them you love them?

It’s been twenty one years now that I’ve been into this world. I am visibly bumping around the corners, practically adopting the changes in the environment. And I am patiently living for survival. As I hop at certain parts of the foregrounds, I couldn’t stop myself from making scenarios in my head. Reality check I am therefore a best example of a lost being, but on the other hand that helps me to realize all the usual things in life yet neglected. Something bearable, something that is right in front of us but we opt to refuse.

A simple chit-chat with a friend is actually a great gateway to capture moments, a simple smile on a camera is a lifetime remembrance. Those pennies given to street-children can’t eat down your wealth. Seeing your usual breakfast served by your mom is your tongue’s delight. Family gatherings, from sharing to laughing, that’s one simple joy. Walking around the streets instead of riding a vehicle and hearing your heart beats, that’s your heart’s way of saying “thanks for making me fit”.

We are brought to life to serve a purpose, some may succeed and some may not work on it well because they lack something, might be the spirit of workmanship. But what’s important is that we know deep inside our hearts that we are worthy to live and are eager to become successful. If we’d still wake up the other day, we must be thankful instead of dragging down the happiness.

For all the times in our lives we can’t say that we’re not a sinner, i am not a sinner. As we age, we change. We give definition to what we’re searching. We give proofs to our premonitions. We do all belong to the same ground but we differ from lifestyles. And we’re actually torn between the battle of life and survival.

“We have abundant resources and succumbed all the goodness. We definitely enjoy pulling off the box those brand new memories. Not noticing the white hairs are growing fast.”

MAKE YOUR LIFE COUNT BEFORE YOUR WHITE HAIRS RUN OUT.
